SANTA FE, N. M. (AP) – The suspected drunken driver charged in the highway deaths of four teenagers over the weekend has been ordered held on $3 million bond.
Twenty-eight-year-old Scott Owens had his first court appearance yesterday before a magistrate judge in Santa Fe.
Appearing on video from the county detention center, Owens answered a brief series of questions from the judge before the bond was set.
Police say he was driving the wrong way on a road just outside Santa Fe early Sunday when his vehicle collided with a car full of teenagers, killing four of them and critically injuring a fifth. He is charged with four counts of vehicular homicide and one count of great bodily injury by vehicle.
