Lubbock voters reject new soccer fields

Lubbock voters decided the fate of 4 bond proposals totaling $60 million yesterday.
Bond Proposition One, which authorizes more than $43 million to be spent on street repairs, passed with 63% of the vote. Included in that proposal is $20 million to revamp almost 2 miles of 34th Street in central Lubbock.
Bond Proposition Two, which authorizes $7.5 million for new firefighting equipment, also passed by a huge margin, garnering approval by 75%. It approves the construction of 3 new fire stations in South Lubbock where the city has seen large population growth.
Lubbock voters rejected two proposals that would increase park facilities and build new soccer fields.
Bond Proposition Three which would have authorized $1.2 million to install water recreation facilities in four of the city’s parks was rejected by 59% of the vote.
And Bond Proposition Four, a measure to spend $9 million to build new soccer fields and related support facilities in Southwest Lubbock, was defeated by 58%.
