Students at UNT voting on same-sex couples
November 17, 2009
DENTON, Texas — Students at the University of North Texas in Denton are voting this week to decide whether the bylaws should be changed to allow same-sex couples to run for homecoming court.
The voting began Monday and runs through Friday on the student government’s Web site: http://www.untsga.com.
The homecoming king and queen at UNT have always been a man and a woman. But, students could change that by deciding whether or not same-sex couples and/or gender-neutral couples could be crowned.
Election results are expected next week.
If the students approve it, the change would take effect next year.
